Most churches do not think of their offering envelope as a communication tool. A colorful or visually attractive envelope draws the eyes attention.  This gets the member looking at the envelope where your message and fund information is displayed.

Your church logo should be on everything you do for both print and digital communications.  Following this rule will insure that anytime a person sees just that logo or design they will automatically know that piece belongs to your church.

It is very important to convey a clear, concise stewardship message.  What is the mission of the church?  If you ask members what the church’s mission or message is, many will not know.  Putting your message on your envelope helps communicate to the member exactly what the message and mission is for the church.  They will be more likely to give when they can relate to what it is your church is all about.

Placing the members names and address on the envelope relates attachment to the church and helps convey the message that they are responsible to support it. On Monday mornings, counters will appreciate this information for recording. The information for that member who is giving that gift is right in front of them.

Giving designation is probably the most important piece of information you can put on your envelope.  A lot of people don’t know what to give or where. Placing it right in front of them tells them the exact needs of that church. It also helps a giver to choose a fund that they care about, which often will result in increased giving.

Including your church name and contact information on your envelope seems obvious; but it’s important that it is displayed properly with clear and concise contact information. Your name is your church, and the envelope carries the funds that keep the church going. When guests come, they may take en envelope home to send an offering later. Having your name and contact information front and center will make this process easier for them.
