What is a Crop Hunger Walk? The answer is simple: people walking to take a stand against hunger worldwide. The first Crop Hunger Walk was organized by Church World Service in 1969. Since then there have been over 2,000 communities across the US joining in more than 1,600 Crop Walks. The funds raised from these various Crop Walks will assist people in need around the world. CROP Hunger Walks help to provide food and water, as well as resources that empower people to meet their own needs.
This year AmericanChurch, Inc. (ACI) is participating in the Crop Hunger Walk in the Mahoning Valley sponsored by the Mahoning Valley Association of Churches (http://www.mvaconline.org/) on Sunday October 10th. To help raise funds to support the ACI team Heidi Janis, an ACI Sales Representative, has organized a variety of activities.
There has been a week long bake sale. Employees donated baked goods that other employees purchased in support of the Crop Walk. Another fundraiser was a fruit/health food sale in which employees donated fresh fruit, orange juice, and yogurt. On Wednesday, ACI employees enjoyed a Hot Dog sale at lunch, which included a jumbo hot dog with chips for only One Dollar. All of the items were donated by employees, with all proceeds going to support the Crop Hunger Walk. At the time of this post, ACI has raised $192 with one more day to go.
